Dental Crowns in Las Vegas, NV
CEREC crowns may be a viable tooth restoration procedure if you have a broken or damaged tooth. Dr. Peter Balle can determine whether you are a good candidate for dental crowns in Las Vegas when you come in for your consultation for CEREC crowns. Dental crowns are designed as a tooth shaped cap that will fit tightly over your tooth to cover it like an encasing. These are usually placed to restore the size, appearance, and strength of the tooth structure. CEREC crowns can fix a number of issues associated with the tooth by covering the part of the tooth that sits above the gum line.
You may be a good candidate for dental crowns in Las Vegas for the following reasons:
- You have a weak or cracked tooth
- You have a tooth that is worn down or broken
- To cover and support a tooth that has a large filling
- To hold a dental bridge in place
- To improve the appearance of misshapen or discolored teeth
- To restore the original function of the lost tooth
- To cover a tooth that has had a root canal
Procedure for Dental Crowns in Las Vegas
The procedure for dental crowns typically takes two office visits, unless we utilize the CEREC system, which only requires one visit. During the first visit, Dr. Balle will prepare your tooth for the crown. He will take a set of x-rays to ensure that the root of the tooth and surrounding bone are healthy enough to support a dental crown. If the tooth has been decayed into the nerve, a root canal may be necessary before a crown can be placed.
Dr. Balle will need to numb the tooth and surrounding gum tissue before the procedure begins. The tooth that will be receiving the crown will be prepared and reshaped, then an impression of the tooth will be made. This impression will help to create a unique, custom crown that can be manufactured within about three weeks. On your second visit, Dr. Balle will check the health of the tissues. Having healthy gums will ensure a secure fit and will enable us to proceed with the permanent cementation of the dental crown.
If we are providing you with a CEREC crown, the procedure is similar except that we use a CAD system to design your crown in house. With this system, we have great control over the shade and design facets of your new dental crown. Please visit our CEREC page to learn in depth information about this convenient procedure.
