Initial Visit

On your first visit you can expect to meet the doctor for a personal interview to describe and discuss your concerns. The first visit will take approximately 1 &1/2 hours of your time. You can expect the doctor to listen and make notes during this initial meeting. After getting to know you and understanding your concerns the doctor will escort you to the exam room to begin the comprehensive dental examination.

During the examination the doctor will communicate with you and record the conditions of your mouth. He will examine your mouth and record conditions of decay, missing teeth, shifted teeth, outlived worn out restorations, and worn teeth. He will also perform an important oral cancer screening. The doctor will examine in detail the condition of the gums and bone around your teeth.

After seeing your conditions, he will order the necessary radiographic films, study molds, and photographs both of the inside of your mouth and of your smile necessary to complete the initial examination by a clinical dental assistant.

Once all this information is gathered you will be scheduled for a following visit for a review of findings appointment which can take approximately 30-40 minutes to discuss the following four items:

1. The existing conditions
2. The risks of delaying and/or postponing treatment

3. The best treatment plan based on the conditions and your desires

4. The exact cost and number of appointments and weeks necessary to attain a
lifetime plan of excellent dental health.

The time between the initial exam and the review of finding appointment is usually about 10 to 12 days. This allows the doctor to study the information gathered and formulate a treatment plan specific to the individuals needs and desires. You the patient are encourage to bring a family member or significant other to the review of findings appointment. You are encourage to discuss and ask any questions that concern you.
Once all questions are answered and all conditions and treatment are understood, your financial options will be made available and discussed with you by the treatment coordinator to determine what is best suited and most comfortable to each patient. The patient has the right and the choice to decide if and when treatment is to be performed.
